Christmas at Cakes by appointment.
Whether you follow a particular faith or just hold onto your own family traditions, Christmas festivities now seem to be enjoyed by most of us.
English tradition has it that in the 19th century Christmas cakes were usually eaten on Christmas Eve, and were not under any circumstances to be cut into before the day dawned, as this was deemed most unlucky. A portion also had to be preserved until Christmas Day otherwise, the succeeding year was thought to be an unlucky one.
In addition to our iced celebration cakes at Christmas ‘Cakes By Appointment’ also offer mouth watering traditional Christmas Puddings which come beautifully wrapped in muslin and gingham and are then topped off with a festive red bow. The puddings are clearly labelled detailing all ingredients, storage and cooking instructions and have a brief history of how the Christmas pudding has evolved over the years. Another addition to the Christmas range is the sumptuous fruit cakes topped with fruit, nuts, and finished with a rich brandy and apricot glaze.
With sufficient notice bespoke baskets and hampers can be made, which make lovely gifts for that person who ‘has everything’. These are made up from our range of cakes, Christmas puddings and jars of locally produced honey. In recent years these have proved very popular, so early booking is certainly recommended.
Whatever your choice from our product range with ‘Cakes By Appointment’ you can be assured of considered thought from the mixing of the first carefully chosen ingredients through to the presentation and packaging when these culinary treats arrive safely in your hands.
